Obtain a significant increase in sensitivity due to the Pathlength Enhancement of the Integrating Cavity method

The Integrating Cavity method (ICAM) results in a substantial effective pathlength enhancement over a 1 cm2 cuvette.

This figure from Prof Poole’s 2014 Microbiology publication illustrates the pathlength difference between the CLARiTY & a standard UV/Vis and the resulting data that is obtainable.

“Because the diffuse reflecting cavity walls have high reflectivity, the effective absorption length in the sample is many times the diameter of the integrating cavity…Measurement of very small absorptions is facilitated by the use of long path lengths through the sample…this integrating cavity concept is especially sensitive to small absorptions.”
